Exhale – Where Freedom Begins: The Story Behind the Painting
Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is simply let go.
Exhale – Where Freedom Begins was created around that feeling — the moment when you stop holding everything so tightly, breathe out, and allow yourself to move forward a little lighter.
When letting go becomes strength
We often think strength means holding on.
Holding everything together.
Keeping going.
Carrying what life places on our shoulders.
But I have come to believe there is another kind of strength: knowing when to release.
That is the feeling I wanted to capture in Exhale.
The woman in the painting represents that quiet moment of freedom. There is no dramatic declaration. Just a breath, a release, and the possibility of beginning again.
For me, that is where freedom begins.
A painting that became a reminder
As I painted Exhale, I wanted the piece to feel peaceful but also strong.
Not simply beautiful to look at, but something that could make you pause.
Perhaps it reminds you of something you have already overcome.
Perhaps it speaks to a chapter you are ready to close.
Or perhaps it simply reminds you, on a busy day, to breathe.
Art can mean something different to each person who stands in front of it. That is one of the things I love most about painting.
I create the story — but once the artwork leaves my studio, you bring your own story to it.
From the original painting to a limited edition
I wanted to make Exhale available to more people while keeping something special and collectible about each piece.
So I chose to release it as a Limited Edition Giclée Print, with only 50 prints available in each size.
Each print is individually signed and numbered by me and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The artwork is printed on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm, a beautiful museum-quality fine art paper whose natural texture gives the image wonderful depth and preserves much of the character of the original painting.

Once the 50 prints in each size have found their homes, that edition will be permanently closed.
Bringing Exhale into your home
I love the idea that art can become part of the atmosphere of a home — something you walk past every day and perhaps experience a little differently depending on the moment.
My hope is that Exhale brings a sense of calm, strength and possibility into the space where it hangs.
A reminder that letting go does not always mean giving up.
Sometimes, letting go is how we make room for what comes next.
